3 ways to put a Floating Twitter Badge in your Blog / Website

1. WP FollowMe (Wordpress Plugin)

Built on  javascript, php & CSS, require you to download and install it or can be easily install   throught the “Add New” option under Plugins in your wp admin panel. Make sure to activate it after the installation. WP Follow me Plugin settings can be found under the “Settings” tab in your wordpress admin.

Latest version just updated today has more features added. for example, now you can choose a nice twitter bird icon from a collection. Also now we can customize the text on the badge.

Author’s description : WP FollowMe is a wordpress plugin that allow you to add a twitter “Follow me” badge on your wordpress blog.

With FollowMe you can:

  • change the color of the badge
  • change the follow me label (Follow me /  Follow us)
  • change the position of the badge (left side or right side and the distance from top)

What you need to use this plugin :

  • a wordpress powered website (blog)
  • a twitter.com account (obviously)

How to use it :

  • Download it
  • Extract all files from the zip archive
  • Copy the followme folder to wp-content/plugins
  • Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in wordpress
  • Go to FollowMe Settings page ( Settings -> FollowMe Settings) [you don't have to edit the code form any php file, just use the settings page]
  • Add your twitter account on “Your twitter account” text field and configure the other options as desire
  • That’s it !

Some of you have problems with this plugin.I have founded why and there is a quick fix for it. To make the plugin working open the footer.php file from your theme directory ( wp-content/themes/theme_name/footer.php ) and paste this code before the </body> tag : <?php wp_footer(); ?>

Once you’re done customizing:

  • Click ‘Update Code’
  • Copy the code
  • Paste it on your site template right before the “BODY” end tag (</body>)
  • Note: The badge will not appear on IE6
